Beaches in Kavala: Where to Swim Nea Iraklitsa

For the best swimming experience, we recommend:

Ammolofoi Beach

The “flagship” of the region’s beaches and perhaps the most famous in Northern Greece. Endless sand dunes with fine golden sand and shallow, azure waters that bring to mind an exotic destination. There you will find dozens of organized beach bars for every taste, but also ample space if you prefer to set up your own umbrella. It is the ultimate choice for young people, groups, and families.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the Beaches

To enjoy the sun and sea comfortably and without stress, we have gathered the most common queries our guests have regarding Kavala’s beaches.

Do I need a car to go to the beaches?

For beaches outside the city (Ammolofoi, Nea Iraklitsa, Almyra), a car is the most comfortable option, especially if you have a family. However, for Batis New Age, there is regular transport by city bus, and for the other beaches, there are KTEL bus routes, although with less frequency.

Which beaches are best for families with children?

Nea Iraklitsa and Ammolofoi are excellent choices, as they have fine sand and shallow waters. Also, Batis New Age is very popular with families due to its infrastructure (pools, playground, easy access).

When is the best time to go to the beach?

In the summer months, especially on weekends, the beaches fill up quickly. We suggest starting early in the morning (around 9:30-10:00) to find a good sunbed and parking. Alternatively, the time after 16:00 is ideal for a quieter swim and to enjoy the sunset.
